Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson, aged 24, was one of three individuals killed in a car crash.

Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson, along with two others, tragically lost their lives in a car crash on Saturday morning in Prince George's County, Maryland, as reported by Maryland State Police. Jackson, aged 24, was in the front passenger seat of a Dodge Charger involved in a three-car collision in Upper Marlboro. Emergency responders pronounced Jackson dead at the scene. The other victims were identified as Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, both former high school football teammates of Jackson at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Maryland. 


The Vikings expressed profound sadness and extended support to Jackson's family in a statement, pledging assistance and counseling to team members affected by the tragedy. The crash occurred when a silver Infiniti, reportedly changing lanes at high speed on Route 4/Pennsylvania Avenue, struck the Charger, causing it to veer off the road and collide with multiple tree stumps. Hazel, the Charger's driver, was also pronounced dead at the scene, while Lytton Jr., seated in the rear, succumbed to injuries at a nearby medical center. 

Authorities suspect alcohol may have played a role in the incident, which remains under investigation. The NFL community mourned the loss of Jackson, acknowledging his promising career after being drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Jackson had shown talent during his final collegiate season at the University of Oregon, earning All-Pac-12 first-team honors with notable defensive stats. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell expressed deep sorrow over Jackson's passing, describing him as a player with infectious energy and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
